Costa Coffee have just brought out their second vegan cake for customers in the UK.
Costa released the news of the cake on their Facebook page and said: “Our brand new Oaty Bakes are full of sticky, jammy, vegan-y goodness. And yes it’s totally acceptable to have one for brekkie”.
The new oat bake costs £1.85, contains 303 calories and unfortunately isn’t gluten free. All those calories appear to come from the oaty pastry that’s filled with jam and topped with nuts, fruit and seeds.
This extra cake on the list seems to have come about as a result of Costa asking its Facebook followers to suggest other cakes that they can start selling on their counter. The majority of the responses were from vegans – surprise surprise!
A lot of the comments were vegans suggesting more plant-based savoury options with many people feeling that there currently isn’t enough. Costa assured its followers that the new vegan wrap will be on sale this summer.
What else is on offer?
Whatever might be said about the new Oaty Bake, at least vegans are getting more options. The only other cake on offer at the moment is the vegan trademarked Paradise Slice which is a chewy coconut slice with nuts, fruit and chocolate. Costa also launched their coconut milk range coffees this year, which includes their coconut flat white drinks.
All of this comes on top of other fantastic news that Virgin Trains will now be serving hot, vegan, cooked breakfasts on board their West Coast lines. It just gets better!
